Q. What is Mousemail.com?
A. Mousemail.com is designed to be a safe online environment that provides children access to fun, age appropriate games; educational material; a child-friendly calendar; task and contact managers; and filtered email and WebTXT tools that prevent exposure to inappropriate messages, cyberbullying, child predators and other unauthorized contacts.

Q. What is WebTXT?
A. WebTXT is a MouseMail.com messaging system that allows members to send and receive text messages between the MouseMail.com website and cell phones, providing an excellent way for children to keep in touch with Mom, Dad, and other approved contacts. WebTXT also functions as an Instant Messaging tool and is easily used by children to communicate with other MouseMail.com members.

Q. What is the difference between WebTXT and traditional texting on a cell phone?
A. Traditional texting is typically used to send and receive text messages between two cell phones. WebTXT provides text messaging between the MouseMail.com website and a cell phone. WebTXT can also be used to send messages between MouseMail.com members.

Q. How does Mousemail.com filter email and WebTXT Messages?
A. MouseMail.com uses Active Filtering Technology developed by Safe Communications, Inc. to scan every incoming and outgoing message for potentially inappropriate content. Messages containing questionable material will be blocked from the child and diverted to the parent for review. The filtering process will also identify messages from anyone that has not been specifically authorized to communicate with the child and divert those messages to the parent for review.

Q. Does my child need a MouseMail.com email address for the filtering process to work?
A. Yes. When a child uses a MouseMail.com email address, all incoming and outgoing messages will be filtered.

Q. Does MouseMail.com work with third party email services (e.g., Gmail, Yahoo Mail, AOL, etc.)?
A. When using your MouseMail.com email account, all email messages sent to or received from third party email accounts will be filtered. MouseMail.com does not filter messages within a third party email account or between third party accounts.

Q. Will MouseMail detect inappropriate text abbreviations?
A. MouseMail.com uses an extensive database of inappropriate words, text abbreviations, slang words, and terms related to drugs, suicide, sex, and bullying. The database is constantly updated by our linguistic experts. Parents can also add to the list any words or terms that may not be commonly considered inappropriate but which they deem inappropriate for their child.

Q. Will MouseMail.com work on my child’s cell phone?
A. MouseMail.com is a web based service designed for internet users. In the future, MouseMail.com will offer a downloadable application for smartphones that will provide email and text filtering for mobile devices.

Q. Will MouseMail.com monitor third party messaging applications (e.g., AIM, Skype, etc.)?
A. No. MouseMail.com does not currently monitor third party messaging applications.

Q. Does my child have to be logged in to MouseMail.com for email messages to be monitored?
A. No, incoming messages will be filtered even when your child is not logged in to the system. When your child logs in to their MouseMail.com account, the valid messages will be waiting in their Inbox and flagged messages will be displayed in the parent account for review.

Q. Can I customize the list of keywords used for filtering?
A. Yes. Although the MouseMail.com database of keywords is extensive and constantly expanding, parents may want to add some of their own words or phrases from time to time. MouseMail.com provides a simple interface for adding custom terms in the My Settings section.

Q. Is Mousemail.com easy to install?
A. MouseMail.com is a web based service and does not require software to be installed on your computer.

Q. How do children like MouseMail.com?
A. Children love MouseMail.com and enjoy the games and ability to communicate with their friends in a safe environment.

Q. How much time is required to monitor my child’s email and WebTXT activity?
A. MouseMail.com notifies parents only when potentially harmful content is identified, allowing parents to efficiently protect their children’s communications without the hassle of reading every message. Research shows that most parents spend less than ten minutes per day.

Q. How much does it cost to become a Mousemail.com member?
A. Mousemail.com membership is free and includes unlimited use of all basic MouseMail.com features.

Q. How does Mousemail.com restrict communications from un-authorized individuals?
A. Mousemail.com compares every incoming message to a child specific database of authorized contacts and diverts messages from un-authorized contacts to the parent for review.

Q. Can a parent change the authorization status of a child’s contacts?
A. Yes, the contact manager for each child provides authorization options for each contact in the child’s contact database. To change the authorization status for a specific contact, simply log in to the parent account, select the appropriate child, click the Contacts link and click on the contact to be changed.

Q. My Confirmation email or email notification did not arrive. What should I do?
A. Check your email application’s spam or junk folder. Please remember to mark emails coming from Mousemail.com or SafeCommunications as safe to avoid future problems.

Q. How do I add a child to my account?
A. Log in to your account, click the “Add Child” link on the left side of the screen and complete the required information.

Q. My Confirmation email, or email notifications did not arrive.

Q. What web browsers support Mousemail.com?
A. Mousemail.com should work seamlessly with all web browsers; however we suggest that you download the most recent version of your web browser to ensure optimal performance.

Q. Will MouseMail.com work with Apple computing products (Mac, Ipad)?
A. Mousemail.com is a web based application and works with Macs and PCs; however, some of the games utilize an industry standard technology that is not supported by Apple and may not function properly.

Q. I have more than one computer; do I need to install MouseMail.com on each?
A. No, Mousemail.com is a web based application and does not need to be installed on your computer.

Q. Will anti-virus or spyware monitoring programs cause problems with Mousemail.com?
A. Mousemail.com will not conflict with anti-virus or spyware monitoring programs.

Q. What if my child forgets their password?
A. Parents can reset their child’s password in the Settings section on the Parent Dashboard.

Q. What if I forget my Parent Account password?
A. Click the “Forgot your password?” link on the login page and enter the email address that was used to register for MouseMail.com. The email address will be verified and an email message with a recovery link will be sent to you. Click on the link and set up a new password. If you don’t receive the recovery link email, check your email application’s spam or junk folder.
